Message match
The short answer
Message match is the alignment between what an ad promises and what the landing page immediately shows. If an ad says "3BHK in Thane from ₹1.2 Cr", the landing page headline should say the same thing — not open with a generic developer tagline.
When the page matches the promise, visitors instantly feel they're in the right place. When it doesn't, they hesitate or leave.
What to match
- The headline promise
- The offer — price, discount, trial
- The visual — product, location, person
- The language and tone
- The call to action
Why it matters on Google too
Landing page relevance feeds Quality Score, which affects what you pay per click.
In practice
For real estate campaigns, message match often means one landing page per project and configuration — "2BHK in Thane West from ₹95 lakh" lands on a page that opens with exactly that, including price, location and RERA details. Generic developer homepages lose most of that intent.
Message match example
| Ad | Poor landing page | Matched landing page |
|---|---|---|
| "2 BHK in Thane West from ₹95 lakh — book a site visit" | Developer home page | Project page showing 2 BHK plans, prices from ₹95 lakh, site-visit form |
| "Free 72-hour Meta Ads audit" | Generic services page | Audit page explaining what's included and a short form |

Message match in practice
An ad promises "free delivery on first orders"; the landing page repeats that offer prominently. Conversion improves because visitors see what they expected.
How to improve message match
- Echo the ad's headline on the page
- Keep visuals consistent
- Create separate pages for different offers
Common message-match mistakes
- Sending all ads to the homepage
- Different offers in the ad and on the page
- Inconsistent visuals and language
Frequently asked questions
Do we need a separate landing page for every ad?
Not every ad — but every distinct offer and audience should land on a matched page.
Does message match matter for organic search too?
Yes. The page should immediately confirm what the search result promised. A title that promises pricing information should lead to a page that shows pricing near the top.
Does message match require a new page per ad?
Not always. Dynamic text or a few well-targeted pages can cover groups of similar ads.
What should match first?
The headline promise and offer — then imagery, terminology and the call to action.
Does message match affect Quality Score?
It supports landing-page relevance, which feeds into Quality Score.
Should landing pages match the ad's language?
Yes — Hindi or regional-language ads should lead to pages in the same language.
