A marketing audit that finds the leaks
The short answer
Most marketing waste is invisible from inside the account. Duplicated conversions make campaigns look better than they are. A blended ROAS hides a failing prospecting campaign behind a healthy brand campaign. A slow checkout quietly taxes every channel. An audit's job is to make those leaks visible, estimate what they cost, and rank what to fix first.
PMG audits the full funnel in one pass and ends with a prioritised action plan — the same audit we offer free to prospective clients.
What we audit
- Unit economics: break-even ROAS and affordable CAC from your real costs
- Tracking: every conversion event verified against the back end
- Paid accounts: structure, wasted spend, bidding, audiences and creative fatigue
- Website: speed, conversion funnel and mobile experience
- SEO: technical health, content gaps and AI-search visibility
- CRM: lifecycle flows, list health and repeat purchase behaviour
- Reporting: whether current reports support good decisions
The leaks we find most often
- Conversion events counted twice, inflating ROAS
- Brand search and retargeting flattering blended numbers
- Irrelevant search terms consuming budget
- Creative running weeks past fatigue
- Mobile pages too slow for paid traffic
- No abandoned cart or post-purchase flows
- Lead-gen campaigns optimising for form fills with no CRM feedback
What you get
- A written audit ranked by impact and effort
- Quick wins shippable within two weeks
- A 90-day roadmap
- An estimate of wasted spend where measurable
- A walkthrough call with the strategist who ran the audit
How the audit runs
- Kick-off call — thirty minutes on goals, margins and what you suspect is broken.
- Access — read-only access to ad accounts, analytics and store or CRM.
- Analysis — typically within 72 hours of access for a standard audit.
- Written report — findings ranked by impact and effort, with estimated waste where measurable.
- Walkthrough — the strategist who ran it takes you through every finding.
- You decide — implement in-house, with us, or with anyone else.
What does a marketing audit cover?
| Area | Questions we answer |
|---|---|
| Tracking | Are conversions counted once, with the right values? Do platforms, GA4 and your back end reconcile? |
| Paid media | Where is spend going? Which campaigns add new customers vs claim existing ones? What's wasted? |
| Creative | How fresh is creative? What's fatigued? What concepts are missing? |
| Search | Which queries trigger ads? Which pages rank? Where are SEO and paid competing? |
| Conversion path | Page speed, message match, forms, checkout, follow-up speed |
| CRM and retention | Journeys, repeat rate, WhatsApp and email health |
| Reporting | Which numbers are used to make decisions, and are they right? |
What you receive from our audit
- A written summary of the biggest issues, in plain language
- Evidence for each — screenshots, numbers and examples
- The three changes we'd make first, and the metric each should move
- A longer backlog, prioritised by impact and effort
- A 30-minute walkthrough call if you want one
How long does the audit take, and what access is needed?
We deliver the written audit within 72 hours of receiving read-only access. Typically that means viewer access to Meta Business, Google Ads and GA4, and — if you're happy to share — Search Console, your store or CRM reports and the landing pages in use. We never ask for admin access or passwords to run an audit, and access can be removed immediately afterwards.
Audit vs ongoing management
An audit tells you what's wrong and what to fix first. You can implement it in-house, with your current agency, or with us. Many clients start with the audit to test how we think before committing to anything larger.
What an audit looks at, by business type
| Business | Focus areas |
|---|---|
| eCommerce | Tracking accuracy, feed quality, creative, COD and RTO, retention |
| Lead generation | Lead quality, CRM loop, speed to lead, landing pages |
| B2B | Pipeline attribution, LinkedIn and search efficiency, content |
| Local businesses | Google Business Profile, reviews, local search, call tracking |
A worked example: what one audit found
A brand spending ₹15 lakh a month believed its ROAS was 4. The audit found duplicate purchase events inflating conversions, brand searches counted as prospecting results and no exclusion of existing customers. Real new-customer ROAS was far lower. Fixing measurement first changed the whole budget plan.
How a Marketing Audit engagement with PMG runs
- Audit (week 0–1). Accounts, analytics, tracking, website, CRM flow and competitors reviewed, with a written list of what's broken, what's wasted and the three moves we'd make first.
- Plan (week 1–2). Break-even ROAS or a target cost per lead, a measurement plan and a 90-day roadmap for Marketing Audit, with owners and dates.
- Launch (week 2–4). Clean structures, verified conversion signals, the first creative sprint and landing-page fixes.
- Optimise (months 2–3). A weekly test cadence, with budget following the cheapest incremental results rather than platform-reported ones.
- Scale (month 3 onwards). New channels, geographies and retention loops, added only when the economics hold.
Every week you get a one-page scorecard, a change log, the test board and a 30-minute call with your strategist. See how we work and pricing for details.

Frequently asked questions
Is the audit really free?
Our standard growth audit is free. Larger, deeper audits for complex multi-market or enterprise setups are scoped as paid projects.
What access do you need?
Read-only access to ad accounts and analytics is ideal. Exports and screenshots work if access isn't possible.
Will you try to sell us something afterwards?
We'll tell you what we'd do. Whether you do it with us, in-house or with someone else is your call — and you keep the audit.
Can you audit our current agency's work?
Yes. The audit is factual — it looks at setup, spend and results — and you can share it with your agency to act on.
What size of business is the audit for?
Any business running paid media or relying on its website for leads or sales. The depth scales with the size of the accounts.
Do you audit SEO as well?
Yes, as part of the growth audit or as a dedicated SEO audit for larger sites.
Will you share the audit if we don't hire you?
Yes — it's yours to keep and use.
How long does Marketing Audit take to show results?
Tracking fixes and search campaigns often show improvement within two to four weeks; prospecting on Meta or YouTube usually needs three to six weeks of creative testing; SEO compounds over three to nine months. We agree leading indicators up front so progress is visible early.
Is there a long contract?
No. Minimum terms are short, because we would rather keep clients with results than with contracts.
What do you need from us to start?
Access to ad accounts and analytics, your margins and order values (or deal values), brand assets, and a decision-maker available for a weekly 30-minute call.
